5Rythms with Joke

The fastest way to still the mind is to move the body (by Gabrielle Roth, the creator of 5Rythms). Practiced by tens of thousands worldwide, 5 Rhythms is a philosophy, perspective, performance art and a dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion it will heal itself. Movement is both the medicine and the metaphor, reaching across all languages, cultures and age groups to transform suffering into art, art into awareness, and awareness into action. Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support, and to provide a safe space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-walking, rock star part of ourselves that yearns to be free.

These classes do not require advance registration (drop-in) and they are suitable for beginner to intermediate level students. The cost is Rs. 400 for guests, Rs. 300 for guests under 30 years old, Rs. 200 for Auroville volounteers, and on donation for Aurovilians & Auroville New Comers. About the Teacher

Joke is a certified 5 Rhythms teacher, Reiki master and Psycho Energetics Practitioner. She was working as a jurist in the corporate world in Belgium, where she was born and raised. Having difficulty to deal with the world as it is, she started journeying within. This lead her to the path of the healing arts. Being mesmerized since childhood about everything that is mystical, she responded to the sudden call to move to Auroville in 2014. Here Joke continued her love affair with the 5rhythms practice. The never ending passion for the dance, made her committed to explore each rhythm, showing the different patterns of her life story. She found in the rhythms a way of letting go and letting in. Dancing wave after wave she got to experience that how we move is how we live.
